Centers for Independent Living work to support community living and independence for people with disabilities across the nation based on the belief that all people can live with dignity, make their own choices, and participate fully in society. These programs provide tools, resources, and support for integrating people with disabilities fully into their communities to promote equal opportunities, self-determination, and respect.
Independent Living Choices (ILC)
Independent Living Choices was established in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) private, non-profit, organization. All ILC services are designed and structured to open doors for people with disabilities. We help individuals access the community, employment, and many other areas of life that allow them their independence. The founders believed in the human value, contribution, and spirit of people who have significant disabilities. They believed that all people regardless of disability should have the right to determine how and where they want to live.

Western Resources for Independent Living believes that people with disabilities and the elderly deserve to live as independently as they choose within their homes and communities. As a local, 501c3 non-profit, they have many different programs to help with independence. Independent living is about being in control of one’s own life, taking responsibility for individual actions, taking risks, and either failing or succeeding on that person’s own terms. It means participating in community life and pursuing activities based entirely upon self-determined interests and preferences.
