Election Day Tips – Go Vote!

TODAY IS THE DAY! YOUR VOICE, YOUR VOTE!

If you have not already voted, go to your local polling site and let your voice be heard!

SOME ELECTION DAY TIPS:

  • Polling sites in South Dakota are open from 7:00am-7:00pm local time.
  • If you are unsure where to go to vote, go to sdsos.gov or call your local county auditor.
  • If you are approached by someone at the polling site that makes you feel threatened or tries to tell you how to vote, tell the elections official at the polling site.
  • If you do not have a photo ID when you go to vote ask to fill out a personal affidavit.
  • If you want someone to help you vote you can take a family member, friend, or ask a poll worker to assist you.
  • Each polling site is required to have a ballot marking device–if you do not see one ask for it.
  • If the poll worker cannot find you in the poll book, ask for a provisional ballot.
  • You can take a filled in sample ballot into the poll booth with you.
  • If you are confined due to illness or a disability, you can have an authorized messenger deliver your absentee ballot application and absentee ballot to the election official–the ballot application must be to the Elections Official no later than 3:00pm today.
  • You do not have to tell anyone who or what you voted for.
  • If you experience any access or voting issues talk with the election’s official at the poll site. If they are unable to resolve your issues call the Secretary of State’s Office 605.773.3537 or DRSD 1.800.658.4782.

Be safe, and go vote!
